Goal

Empower participants to refine their products with guidance from specialists in various technological areas, leveraging onsite facilities at Skylab, the centre of entrepreneurship at the Technical University of Denmark.

Program

  • Startups present their products and challenges online to lab- & workshop managers from DTU Skylab for a feasibility study. 
  • Explore facilities with a guided tour. Attend coaching sessions with tech experts (also available online). Receive an introduction to rapid prototyping.
  • In-house facilities available for hands-on use. 
  • Utilize in-house facilities and receive specialist guidance to enhance products, including mentoring sessions with experts. 

Format

Four workshop days: Hybrid, both online and/or physical attendance at DTU Skylab , Centrifugevej 374, 2800 Kongens Lyngby, Denmark.

NB: Participants may choose to attend only the online sessions, if any of the following conditions apply: 

  1. They require only consultation and feedback. 
  2. They do not need access to Skylab’s physical facilities. 
  3. They do not plan to participate in prototyping workshops. 
  4. They are unable to attend in person. 

All depending on the participating startups, specialists of DTU Skylab from the required fields will attend the workshop.

Thomas Vain  

Dr. Thomas Vain is a distinguished expert in Plant Developmental Biology with a PhD in the field. With a decade of experience in life sciences, Thomas has received insight into various sectors, including pharma, diagnostics, medical biotech, medical technology, health IT, and industrial biotech. 

Henning Due Bærendtsen

Henning is a chemical technician, who brings over 30 years of experience in analytical chemistry, instrumentation, and advanced­ technologies in chemistry and materials science, gained through his tenure at Halder Topsøe and DTU. He also holds a keen interest in plant physiology and is actively involved in horticulture.

Kim Mikkel Schølte

Kim has extensive experience as a building management systems engineer, designing and programming automation systems. He has excelled in roles like energy advisor, team leader, project manager, and system developer, eventually running his own consultancy. Currently, he works as a development engineer and project manager, supporting startups in product development, facilitating meetings, and fostering team and community dynamics.

Jacob Nielsen

Jacob holds an MSc in Environmental and Molecular Biology and has expertise in the physiological and molecular responses of cells and tissues to different stressors. He is dedicated to developing his understanding of sustainability in the life science field, with a particular focus on foods and biodegradable materials. Jacob has a strong interest in various biotech areas, especially fermentation.
