Goal

Give the participants an understanding of the essential elements of an IP strategy for Life Science Startups, and how to integrate it with financial, R&D and go-to market strategies.  We look at different types of intellectual assets including patents, trademarks, designs, trade secrets, know-how and discuss how you can use them for maximizing value at different development stages of a life science company. 
In the one-on-one session, experienced patent attorneys within relevant technical areas are available to discuss your specific business case and answer questions you may have under confidentiality.

  • What is Intellectual Property (IP)?
  • Why do you need an IP Strategy?
  • Essential elements of an IP strategy (ABC): A) Your IP (ownership, exclusivity)  B) Other’s IP (FTO, IP landscape) C) Design, integration and maintenance of the IP Strategy in the dynamics (R&D, finance, go to market) of a life science company  

Program

  • Day 1: (6 hours)  10:00 – 12:00 : IP Strategy fundamentals (above topics) 13:00 – 16:00 : One-on-one session with focus on company specific challenges in IP strategy.       

Format

Online – Microsoft Teams – Maximum 15 participants.

Following the training camp, participants will have the opportunity to schedule a 30-minute one-on-one online meeting with HØIBERG to discuss their specific IP challenges and strategies.

Course Instructors 

Peter Holm

European Patent Attorney and Partner, Peter Holm, is the Country Manager for Sweden at HØIBERG. With an MSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Biochemistry, he brings extensive expertise in patent law, helping clients protect their innovations in the chemical and life sciences sectors.

Charlotta Dahlborg

Charlotta Dahlborg is a Patent Consultant and Business Developer at HØIBERG. As an Associate Partner and Area Manager in Stockholm, she holds an MSc in Business Administration and Economics and a PhD in Medical Science, specializing in innovation management and entrepreneurship. Her focus is on supporting clients in navigating both patent strategy and business development.

Prerequisites for Joining

Everybody is welcome. We start with introduction and accelerate into more advanced topics. It’s advantageous if the participants have prior understanding of IP. During the day there will be time to work on company specific matters/challenges, and confidential break-out sessions may be arranged subject to need.
